Synonyms
Define search synonyms so customers find products regardless of the exact words they use. Multi-way synonyms work in all directions; one-way synonyms expand a root term into aliases (but not vice versa).
How synonyms work (click to expand)
Multi-way — every term in the set is interchangeable. Set ["sofa", "couch", "settee"] means a search for any of the three returns products matching any of the three. There's no "root."
One-way — searching the root also matches the aliases, but searching an alias does not match the root. Use this when the root is a broad parent and the aliases are narrower subtypes you want to surface under the parent query but not the other way around.
Example: root geometric → aliases chevron, herringbone, trellis. Search "geometric" → returns chevron / herringbone / trellis. Search "chevron" → returns only chevron.
The ID is just a stable label so rules can be edited and deleted — it doesn't appear in search. Synonyms take effect immediately after saving.
